Chemistry Degree at National Central University
Chemistry at National Central University bases its research and education (B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.) programs on the traditional chemistry disciplines: organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry as well as two other interdisciplinary areas: materials and environmental chemistry. In education, our goal is to prepare students for the advanced study of chemistry and to provide them with excellent proficiency in both theory and application. Since founded in 1993, the department has continued to evolve and expand. We now offer courses of all levels to both undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.). At present, we have more than 150 undergraduate students (B.S. program) and more than 140 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D. programs) in this department. What we have achieved in teaching and research during such a short period of time has been well known. The success of this department depends much upon the vigorousness, enthusiasm, and excellence of its faculty. The research programs led our outstanding faculty have fruitful achievements and have been well received in the world. Moreover, the department is continuously to equipped with the state-of-the-art instrumentations keyed to the needs of modern research. In addition, with the collaborations with other related departments of the university (such as the Departments of Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, and Optical Sciences) and with other research institutions (such as Academia Sinica, Industrial Technology Research Institute, SRRC etc.), the department will definitely go further in research and teaching. Our department has established an advisory committee to assist and counsel the teaching and research development of our department.
The research at this Chemistry Department has been ranked as one of top three “A+” chemistry departments in the evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education (among the total 25 chemistry departments) in Taiwan.

Our department emphasizes education for professional researchers, so that the main stream of graduates continues to study in graduate school for a masters degree or a Ph.D. Graduates are also working in various national research centers, industrial research labs, industries, hospitals, and universities.
Chemistry is the science concerning the control, properties, reactivity, and detection of atoms and molecules in the world around us. Just as chemistry contributes to our existence, culture, and our quality of life, the discipline of chemistry is a central science with new frontiers continually being explored, and new benefits resulting from them. As home of a central science, the department serves the entire student population in addition to chemistry majors in a new, well-equipped, state-of-the-art facility that is part of the TCNJ Science Complex. Consistent with the goals of TCNJ, the chemistry faculty members have substantial contact with each
The biological sciences include the study of living systems at levels ranging from the structure and function of molecules to the behavior and evolution of communities of organisms. The department offers fou r different routes to mastering skills and knowledge in this broad area. The B.A. and B.S. programs in Biology provide a broad introduction to biology with opportunities for students to create a program of study suited to their specific interests. Programs of study focused on particular aspects of biology are the B.A. and B.S. degree in the areas of Behavioral Neuroscience and Molecular Biology. The department also plays
The aim of this degree programme is to give the students a comprehensive knowledge of chemical engineering based on sufficient skills in chemistry. In the specialisation option the students will gain education in environmental issues like: recycling of materials, production of energy, handling of wastewater, cleaning of air, environmental management and process planning. Competences in mathematical and scientific skills as well as economical thinking and management skills are also achieved. The student will get a holistic view on life-cycle thinking and material flows in industrial planning and other fields of society.
In the practical periods the student applies the received
The following requirements must be met for admission:
High School Students - Application, transcript and ACT (SAT) scores are accepted after you have completed your junior year in high school.
Transfer Students - An official transcript from each college you have attended is required. Your high school transcript and ACT (SAT) score will be required if you have accumulated fewer than 15 hours of transfer credits.
